Kidman Trail

ARPA Cyclists on the Kidman Trail

We had two groups (10 and 8 members) travelling in different directions: One began at Willunga and the other at Kapunda.

We allowed 5 days and had caravan park accommodation at Tanunda and Mt. Barker. Each group had a hired van and trailer as a back-up and we rotated drivers. Two days were very hot with hot winds so they were shortened by whatever the group decided. We mostly hid the bikes at the end of the day and returned next morning to continue.

The Kidman is technically a horse trail with a large variety of terrain: farmers fields with knee-high grass, pretty easements, dirt back-roads, forests, lanes, small bits of bitumen, lots of up and down hills and some sandy spots!

Signage on the roads was not always clear so maps and GPS' are vital. Mt. Crawford and Kuitpo Forests were the easiest markers to locate.
